Celebrating the 100th day of school is a special milestone for students that should be celebrated in style! There are countless ways to make this special day even more memorable– from fun decorations to engaging activities. Get inspired with these ideas on how to make your 100th day of school celebrations unforgettable!
Decorate with DIY Centennial Creations
Getting your classroom, your hallway, and even your entire school in the celebratory spirit is easy with some simple decorations.
Involve the Entire Hallway!
First of all, an ABSOLUTE MUST is to get your entire hallway involved in the fun! Create a “grand entranceway” so your students begin the day with excitement.
They will go CrAzY for it!
PRO TIP: use a bed sheet, tempera paint, and some masking tape to hold it up!
Decorate Your Classroom Door
Decorating your classroom door is another key part of this process. Keep it easy on yourself by using precut letters and numbers, and add streamers with tape. If you’re artistic enough, just write a cute welcome on some paper in bright colors!
Yes, of course, there are going to be quadruple the number of bathroom and water fountain breaks as usual so that the kids can duck under the streamers…but so what…you knew this day wasn’t going to be a normal day anyhow!
This step is really just about the positive classroom environment you’re creating on this special day.
And if you can get your entire school in on the fun, go for it!!
Use 100th Day of School Activities
Promote increased writing skills while you fill your classroom with lots of giggles with this 100th Day of School Picture Poem & Writing Activity.
This will keep you laughing for days! First, download an aging app and age all your students’ darling faces. Don’t forget to age yourself too!
*The AgingBooth App is perfect for this activity! (*not an affiliate link, it’s just easy and does a great job!)
Then, add the pictures to these adorable poem templates, and hang them in the hallway the night before the 100th day for a 100th day SURPRISE!
Have your students complete the writing activity about the positive aspects of having aged 100 days.
This is sure to be a memorable way for everyone to mark this special occasion!

In The Wolf’s Chicken Stew by Keiko Kasza, students will find out that the wolf loves to eat more than anything. He really wants to enjoy some chicken stew but needs a plump hen for the dish. He decides to fatten Mrs. Chicken up by feeding her 100 pancakes, 100 donuts, and then a 100-pound cake. In the end, Wolf ends up making 100 new friends instead of chicken stew.
I’ll Teach My Dog 100 Words by Michael Frith teaches little learners (and a dog!) 100 common words.

- Encourage your students to predict where they will end up if 100 students lie down end to end if starting at your classroom
- Then let the measuring begin!!!
This is a fun activity to do with your entire grade level! If your class is doing this activity solo, just have your students get up and reposition themselves as they count to 100.
This interactive activity is definitely one your kids will be telling their parents about when they get home!

Thank you for being here! I love sharing ideas with other teachers! If you are looking to enhance your teaching and build a positive classroom community, you have come to the right place!
I saved this until we got closer to our 100th Day (next Friday). Such fun ideas! I have not seen the measuring with 100 kids. My kiddos would love that. One of my favorites is the making a picture out of the number 100. Hope you had a great long weekend!
